PTR Patch 3.3: Patch notes updated

Announcement – 11:18 pm
Posted by: Leisure

New patch notes have been release for the patch 3.3 PTR. The changes present in this iteration of the notes will be active when the PTR comes up this evening after the latest patch is applied to your client. While there are a handful of changes to a few classes, there are two major areas which everyone will be talking about for a few days.

First, you no longer have to clear Naxxramas to get to Sapphiron’s lair. Tha means that raids will now be able to go directly to Sapphiron, and subsequently Kel’Thuzad.

Secondly, quest objective tracking is now present in this PTR build. This was originally present in the initial patch 3.2 builds, but was taken out by Blizzard after issues crept up with it. We’ll have more on this new feature later this evening or tomorrow.

The entire list of patch notes changes after the break.

Repentance: This crowd control effect will no longer break early from the damage done by Righteous Vengeance.
Naxxramas
Players no longer need to kill the final bosses in all four wings of this dungeon in order to teleport to Sapphiron. Teleportation orbs have been added to allow players access back and forth from Sapphiron’s lair. Druids

Tranquility: The cooldown on this spell has been reduced to 8 minutes, down from 10 minutes.
Mages

Deep Freeze: This spell now deals a large amount of damage to targets permanently immune to stuns. In addition, when this ability deals damage it will no longer consume two charges of Fingers of Frost for those mages with the Shatter talent. Paladins
Sanctified Light: This talent now also has a 33/66/100% chance to prevent Lay on Hands from causing Forbearance when Lay on Hands is used on others.
Repentance: This crowd control effect will no longer break early from the damage done by Righteous Vengeance. Quest Tracking Feature
Players can now track quest objectives on the map (’M’ key). Quest Log

A Show Map button has been added to the Quest Log. Selecting a quest and pressing this button will open the map for the zone in which the quest objective is located displaying the associated area of interest. Any other active quests in a player’s Quest Log for that zone will also be displayed. Map

The map interface has been separated into four separate panes: a map pane (left), a pane listing active quest names for the zone being viewed (right), a pane listing the full quest text for any highlighted quest (bottom left), and a pane listing the quest rewards for any highlighted quest (bottom right). All active quests listed in the right pane for the zone being viewed on the map will be assigned a number. These numbers will be displayed on the map according to the areas of interest for each quest. Highlighting a quest name in the right pane will highlight the corresponding area of interest on the map in the left pane, show its quest text in the lower left pane, and list the quest rewards in the lower right pane. Given that some quest objectives can be achieved in multiple locations within a given zone, highlighting such a quest will highlight an area of interest closest in proximity to the character’s current location. This feature can be disabled by un-checking the Show Quest Objectives box in the bottom right corner of the new map interface, restoring the map to its standard full-screen display. Clicking on the arrow in the top right corner of the new map interface will hide all but the map pane, bringing the map out of full-screen mode and allowing players to leave it open while navigating a zone or engaging in combat. Objectives Tracking

This frame has been improved to offer new functionality and can be used with the new shrunken map option. The Objectives frame is now docked below the mini-map next to the right 2 action bars and will track up to 12 quests for a zone. Numbers have been added next to each quest name and objective corresponding with those areas of interest displayed on the map. If a quest objective has been completed, the number will be replaced with a yellow question mark symbol. The arrow button in the top right corner of the Objectives frame can be used to toggle between minimizing and maximizing the quest objective display. Quest Difficulty Tracking

This feature is off by default and can be enabled in the Objectives window from the Interface Options menu. Turning this feature on will color-code all quest names displayed in the map interface according to difficulty (grey, green, yellow, orange, and red).

Swagvault AION NA/EU Beginner’s Guide – Chapter I

I. Introduction

Unlike WOW, AION is a war game rather than raid game. In terms of equipments or quests design, AION is inclined to PVP rather than PVE.

II. Most Concerned Issues — Class Selection

Players who care about PVE, may ask which class can easily level up?
Players who care about PVP, may ask which class is relatively powerful?
So class selection is one of cutting points when beginners start to play AION. Personally, selecting the class should change modes of thinking.

Generally, players pay attention to skill balance among classes in WOW. In fact, the class balance in Korean games is below expectations at all time. Therefore AION adopts the idea of “vanquish”, e.g. Ranger can vanquish Sorcerer, Templar can vanquish Assassin, etc. The class balance in Korean games is far less professional than that of games in USA and Europe, so is AION. Personally, even the most powerful individual definitely cannot play excellently. NC advocates team balance. Although Ranger can vanquish Sorcerer, there is always one class that can vanquish Ranger in your team. Relative balance can be realized, when the scope is shifted from individual to team. Accordingly, class balance issue is transferred into team composition issue, meanwhile it can also stresses the importance of teamwork. Taking advantage of the new game idea, Korean has tactfully compensated for the weakness in game design.

A new PTR for patch 3.3 has just been pushed through on the testing servers. Most of the classes have seen some tweaks and changes. At first glance, the biggest winners (not whiners) appear to be mages and shadow priests. Some other big changes include the druid spell Rebirth dropping from a 20 minutes cool down to a 10 minute cool down.

Oh and raid leaders, it seems anyone in the party can use raid marks now. Joy!

Also, new Achievements have surfaced for Icecrown dungeons. Find out what other adjustments were made after the jump.

Update: New glyph changes and a new Feat of Strength has been added.
Update 2: Tier 10 relics have been added to the bottom.

The Aion Community’s Server Choices

– 10:33 pm

Finding friends to play with is not always easy. Sometimes it is more fun to playing when you know that you are playing with others in your vicinity or with a similar play-style. In order to help those of you left in a quandary over what server to play on we devised a list of servers and player preferences based on polls and community research.

English should always be the used language in general or regional chat channels on any North American or English-tagged European server. We do however offer language-specific chat channels in Aion for those of you who want to speak other languages. These chat channels can be accessed by clicking the chat bubble on the left hand side of the chat window’s input field. Please try to remain within the easily accessible chat channels when speaking other languages as that will ensure that the main chat channel is comprehensive and inviting to everyone.

Keep in mind that we do not provide official support based on the following list. We want to offer it up as guidance for new players who are still trying to decide on where to go. It represents the choices of the many communities in our fansite program and we have worked hard with these fansites for it to be as accurate as possible.

Patch 3.2 PTR patch notes

– 9:20 pm
Posted by: DreadMage

I totally called it: the Patch 3.2 PTR notes are now available on the official forums, which means that we should expect the PTR itself to go up today. This is the patch that will bring the expansion of the Argent Tournament, with new 5/10/25-man content.

General

Construction of the Crusaders’ Coliseum is complete. Testing not yet available. New raid Normal and Heroic modes for the Crusaders’ Coliseum can be toggled using the Dungeon Difficulty setting. This applies to 10 and 25-player versions. 10-player (Normal), 25-player (Normal), 10-player (Heroic) and 25-player (Heroic) all share separate raid lockout timers.

Patch 3.3 PTR: Quest tracking feature

November 7, 2009 – 4:18 am
Posted by: devalorisation
The new quest tracker was released as part of Thursday’s PTR build. This is different than the one that they included last time they made an attempt in this area. Previously, they used various types of icons to tell you what type of quest was in that area. This time, they’ve gone with a simpler approach. Instead of using different types of icons, you simply get a numbered circle that matches up with the same number in a quest window attached to your map. If the quest objective is scattered across a larger area a little glowing overlay is put up covering that area. It also puts a question mark on the map marking your turn in location.

We’ve put together a smaller gallery showing these features for you all to enjoy.
