These builds reflect our personal play styles and techniques. If have not had much experience with a particular class we have researched information, as well as information garnered from friends who play, and general consensus for the classes on various forums.
This is by no means a be all end all of what you should choose for your skills in RVR, rather it is intended to give you a good start and description of what is useful in RVR, and some tips and tricks you might not otherwise have thought of. The builds in this guide are based on Rank 40/Renown Rank 0.
If you have any comments or suggestions, please email us at support@ashlingsworld.com.
We will follow this up with a PVE build guide, for groups, and solo play.
High Elf
Archmage
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.20
PvP Heal: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=20#15:34976:6:0:0:0:25:9279:592:9283:9288
Targets:
Heal 1: Healers (You included, if you’re dead you can’t heal others)
Heal 2: Tank (Keeping a tank up that’s charging the enemies can help a lot)
Heal 3: Melee DPS (Half your groups fighting force, tends to take a lot of damage)
Heal 4: Ranged DPS (For the most part they shouldn’t be taking damage)
Stats: Willpower and Wounds
Strat: For PvP healing, always keep HoTs on yourself, if your fighting a big group of people it’s a good idea to use your AoE heals and AoE HoTs to keep your entire group up, and use your single target heals to keep the front line players alive.
If you get attacked in PvP be sure to use the de‐taunt and the HoTs and you should stay alive long enough for help to arrive.
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=20#0:0:15:43040:6:0:25:585:818:9280:9294
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (Since you’re ranged you can kill them, then they’re not healing their group)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (You’re ranged, so you’re one of the few classes that can reach them)
DPS 3: Tanks (Your spells are magic, so it will bypass their defense)
DPS 4: Melee DPS (They’d probably kill you before you could kill them) Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 3
Stats: Int and Wounds (Toughness is useful as well if you plan to be up front taking damage)
Strat: For PvP DPSing, a good idea is to put all your dots on the healers to put pressure on them, if they have to heal themselves, they’re not healing their team which usually causes the DPS and Tanks hp to drop so your team can finish them off.
If you find yourself dying a lot in PvP, be sure to keep all your HoTs on yourself, including the ones that damage enemies and heal yourself, that coupled with de‐taunt should allow you to survive a bit longer and get your hp up, so you can go back into the action.
Swordmaster
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.17
PvP Tank: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=17#0:0:15:10280:6:0:25:819:503:9064:9069
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (You may not kill them, but you’ll force them to heal themselves)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you get up close to them, they’ll be forced to run back)
DPS 3: Tanks (You have ignore armor finisher attacks which help a lot here)
DPS 4: Melee DPS (May not kill them, but you can assist your team in killing them.)
Stats: Wounds, Toughness and Initiative
Strat: A good Swordmaster tanking in PvP can make or break the game, if using the right combination of skills and strat you can easily turn the tide of a battle. One of the best strategies you can use may sound silly, but it works super effectively, it consists of you charging the enemy group and standing there, it may sound weird but in almost every case they will attempt to attack you until you die just because you’re the first target they can click, and of course they will have one hell of a time killing you considering your tank spec, and if you have a healer on you, chances are they won’t be able to.
While you’re in the group of enemies there’s a few good combination of skills you’ll want to use to make yourself even further un‐killable, one of the best you can do is:
Redirect Force ‐> Eagle’s Flight ‐> Crashing Wave, using this combination of skills you’ll do a huge upfront attack, increase your chance to parry by 25% and finally knock the enemy down for 3 seconds.
Crashing Wave is on a 20sec cool down, so use Dragon’s Talon when it’s not up; it reduces your targets damage by 20% for four seconds
Also if someone is trying to escape, or if you just see someone on low life, remember you can use your Throwing Axe to do massive damage from behind.
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=17#15:8328:0:0:7:0:25:500:9047:9062:9068
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (The best enemy healer is the one that’s dead) Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 4
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you get up close to them, snare them and they’re pretty much dead)
DPS 3: Tanks (You have ignore armor finisher attacks which help a lot here)
DPS 4: Melee DPS (It’s best to assist your group in killing them)
Stats: Strength, Weapon Skill and Wounds.
Strat: Watching a good Swordmaster DPS in PvP is always good, due to their natural ability of being a pain in the ass to kill, they can still do great amounts of damage, one of the best strategies for a DPS Swordmaster in PvP is to always go for the healers, it may seem like a basic strategy but that basic thing can make or break a skirmish, especially if you’re in a pug group seeing as most players will go for the first target they can see.
One of the best and deadliest combinations of skills a DPS Swordmaster can use in RvR is:
Gryphon Slash ‐> Quick Incision ‐> Ether Dance (Spirit Damage, ignores armor and lays waste to other tanks), this combination is one the quickest burst dps things you can do for Swordmaster, also remember to always have Nature’s Blade up as well.
Shadow Warrior
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.18
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=18#15:8744:0:0:6:0:25:542:818:9119:9126
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (You can usually out DPS their heals alone, unless they have multiple healers)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (The best way to kill a Ranged DPS is with a Ranged, so go at it!)
DPS 3: Melee DPS (Assist your group at ranged, and you’ll take them out fairly easily)
DPS 4: Tanks (Do what you can using Acid Arrow, but don’t try to take one alone)
Stats: Ballistics, Weapon Skill and Wounds
Strat: A good Shadow Warrior is someone you’ll always want in your group, they have the best rep for making a healers life extreme hell, and of course if your attacking the healers they’re not healing their group which is why you can never have enough Shadow Warriors in your group.
One of the biggest damage combinations for a Shadow Warrior to use is:
Acid Arrow ‐> Festering Arrow ‐> Flame Arrow ‐> Glass Arrow, after these skills are off and on your target (preferably a healer) they’ll obviously try to start healing themselves which is when you use Throat Shot to silence them for 5 seconds and almost guarantee a kill.
White Lion
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.19 Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 5
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=19#0:0:15:8744:6:0:25:521:523:9212
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (Always your first target)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you can reach them, it’s pretty much game over for them)
DPS 3: Melee DPS (Assist your group is killing them, go for the lighter armor first)
DPS 4: Tank (Do what you can, but don’t try to solo)
Stats: Strength, Weapon Skill and Wounds
Strat: Although you may not be as graceful as your cat, playing a White Lion efficiently requires good positioning and speed, with those two things you’ll easily top the damage charts while still having huge amounts of kills.
The most devastating combination of skills you can use as a White Lion in RvR is:
Primal Fury ‐> Shattering Blow ‐> Blindside ‐> Sundering Chop (until they are below 50% hp) ‐> Cull The Weak, if they’re not dead after that, or if they’re a healer follow up with Thin The Herd to prevent them from healing and to kill them.
Greenskin
Black Orc
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.5
PvP Tank: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=5#0:0:15:43048:5:0:25:503:734:1716:1714
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (You may not kill them, but you’ll force them to heal themselves)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you get up close to them, they’ll be forced to run back)
DPS 3: Melee DPS (May not kill them, but you can assist your team in killing them)
DPS 4: Tanks (Brick wall vs Brick wall, do what you can)
Stats: Strength, Weapon Skill and Wounds
Strat: Playing as a tank in PvP isn’t as odd as it sounds, unlike PvE your not exactly trying to tank the enemies, rather your job is to pretty much be an unbreakable wall while charging at your enemies, most enemy groups tend to scatter and run back when melee comes at them, and that gives your groups dps a chance to chase them and kill them.
Another good idea as a PvE Tank is to keep your healers alive, by using Save Da’ Runts on a healer, they’ll take 50% less damage from enemy attacks, giving them time to heal themselves or run away to a safer spot. Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 6
A good combo for a PvP Black Orc Tank would be:
Clobber ‐> Savin’ Me Hide ‐> Tuffer ‘n Nails, which will increase your aggro on the mob, your toughness and your armor, making you an overall harder for your enemies to kill.
Also by using Mor’ Hardcore tactic, you can use your Right in Da Jibbles and Not in Da Face abilities to knock enemy players back away from your healers, and if you aim it properly, even off cliffs.
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=5#15:41632:0:0:4:8:25:734:500:1712:1717
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (The best enemy healer is the one that’s dead)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you get up close to them, snare them and they’re pretty much dead)
DPS 3: Melee DPS (It’s best to assist your group in killing them)
DPS 4: Tanks (Brick wall, do what you can)
Stats: Strength, Weapon Skill and Wounds
Strat: A good strat for DPSing as a Black Orc in PvP is to attack the healers and put pressure on them, even if you don’t kill them they’ll usually run back and leave their team mates without a healer, giving your friends time to kill them, usually a healers first response when they see a Black Orc running at them is to de‐taunt you which reduces your damage by 50% to them, but with the You Got Nuffin’ tactic it won’t affect you.
Another strat for DPSing as a Black Orc in PvP is to use Down Ya Go to knock the enemy down, and use Wot armor? to lower their armor by 25%, and then T’ree Hit Combo to attack them 3 times while they’re on the ground, if they’re not dead and try to run, be sure to use Trip ‘Em Up to snare them so they can’t get away.
If the enemy does get away, and if they are on low health, you can use your throwing axe to deal massive damage to them from behind.
Squig Herder
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.8
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=8#15:10888:0:0:5:0:25:542:1868:1867:1869
Stats: Ballistics, Weapon Skill and Wounds Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 7
Strat: A Squigherder and his Squig are one of the best classes to kill healers and casters with, which can turn the tide of a battle if the enemy is suddenly without heals, and one of the top damage combination of skills you can use to do that is:
Poison Arrer ‐> Gore ‐> Plink (until they are half health) ‐> Finish ‘em Off, followed by Choking Arrer to silence the enemy if they’re a healer, and then Lots o’ Arrers to pretty much guarantee a kill.
Shaman
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.7
PvP Heal: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=7#15:41640:0:0:4:0:25:592:758:1945:1949
Targets:
Heal 1: Healers (Yourself included, if you’re dead you can’t heal others)
Heal 2: Tank (Keeping a tank up that’s charging the enemies can help a lot)
Heal 3: Melee DPS (Half your groups fighting force, tends to take a lot of damage)
Heal 4: Ranged DPS (For the most part they shouldn’t be taking damage)
Stats: Willpower and Wounds (Toughness may be useful as well if you plan to take a lot of hits)
Also be sure to use Don’ Feel Nothing before you use a long cast time heal, as it will absorb a few hits allowing you to cast your spell.
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=7#0:0:15:41504:5:0:25:585:1938:758:1942
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (Since you’re ranged you can kill them, then their not healing their group)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (Your ranged, so you’re one of the few classes that can reach them)
DPS 3: Tanks (Your spells are magic, so it will bypass their defense)
DPS 4: Melee DPS (They’d probably kill you before you could kill them)
Stats: Int and Wounds
Strat: For PvP DPSing, a good idea is to put all your dots on the healers to put pressure on them, if they have to heal themselves, they’re not healing their team which usually causes the DPS and Tanks hp to drop so your team can finish them off. Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 8
If you find yourself dying a lot in PvP, be sure to keep all your HoTs on yourself, including the ones that damage enemies and heal yourself, that coupled with detaunt should allow you to survive a bit longer and get your hp up, so you can go back into the action.
If a lot of players are attacking you at once, be sure to use Fists of Gork and Geddoff! Which will throw your targets back, giving you room to run or cast a spell.
Empire
Bright Wizard
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.11
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=11#15:43552:5:0:0:0:25:8206:563:8199:8197
DPS 4: Melee DPS (They’d probably kill you before you could kill them)
Stats: Int and Wounds
Strat: A good idea for PvP DPSing as a Bright Wizard is to go for the healers, most of the time they’re busy healing their group mates, if you use Fireball Barrage then Nova you can bring them half health and if you get lucky with crits possibly even kill them, even if you don’t kill them they’ll be distracted and let their allies hp drop.
Another strat for PvP DPSing as a Bright Wizard is to go for the tank classes, seeing as melee can’t really damage them, your attacks will do full damage to them, and you’ll be able to bring them down faster than any other class.
PvP AoE: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=11#0:0:3:0:15:43688:25:8211:563:8212:8210
Targets:
DPS 1: A Huge Group (The best kind)
DPS 2: A Big Group
DPS 3: A Medium Group
DPS 4: A Small Group
Stats: Int, Wounds and Toughness
Strat: One of the best ways to maximize your damage as an AoE Bright Wizard in PvP is to start off by using Conflagration of Doom from range to weaken them, then jump into the middle and use Annihilate Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 9
for big AoE damage and then Backdraft for an AoE DoT and a big knockback to all enemies around you giving you time to retreat so you can prepare to do it all over again.
If you prefer to stay at range, start off by using Conflagration of Doom in the middle of a group to weaken them, then Spreading Flames on a player in the group which will put a de‐buff on him that damages all players around that player then Fiery Blast to finish off anyone who lived.
If you get to many players attacking you, be sure to use Fire Cage for an AoE root, giving you time to get away.
Warrior Priest
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.12
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=12#0:0:4:0:15:10920:25:585:8293:8294:8295
Stats: Strength and Wounds
Strat: Since Warrior Priests are considered hybrids, going down the DPS route can be devastating to your enemies since your naturally hard to kill and still have the ability to self heal while DPSing in RvR you’re a force not to be reckoned even, although you Warrior Priests lack a decent snare most of the time you won’t need it with the right combination of skills, one of the best you can use is:
Soulfire ‐> Castigation ‐> Absence of Faith (curse) ‐> Weight of Guilt (snare from curse) ‐> Bludgeon until they are 50% hp or lower ‐> Hammer of Sigmar to finish them off, and if they’re still alive after that continue to Bludgeon.
Also always make sure you have Prayer of Righteousness on for your burst damage.
PvP Heal: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=12#15:8864:5:32:0:0:25:589:592:8282:8287
Targets: Heal 1: Your group with your AoE heals / Tank
Heal 2: Healers (If you’re dead, you’re not very helpful)
Heal 3: Melee DPS (They tend to take a lot of hits)
Heal 4: Ranged DPS (Just your HoTs should be fine to keep them alive)
Stats: Willpower, Wounds and Toughness Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 10
Strat: Like Disciple of Khaine, Warrior Priests who heal in PvP are one of the best healers you can have in your team, due to their AoE healing and buffs they’re a valuable asset to any group, one of the best combonation of skills that can even bring an almost dead group back to full life is:
Divine Light ‐> Pious Restoration ‐> If you have enemies on you use Touch Of The Divine, if you don’t have enemies on you use Martyr’s Blessing
Doing this will shield your group, put an AoE HoT on them and follow up with massive direct AoE heals almost surely guaranteeing your groups survival.
Witch Hunter
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.9
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=9#8:0:0:0:15:520:25:521:523:526:8138
Strat: A good Witch Hunter can get to the back of the enemy lines and kill an enemy healer or caster before the enemies even know he’s there then re‐enter stealth and do it all over again, one of the best ways to do that is getting the surprise which is what makes Witch Hunter a Witch Hunter.
Easily the best combination of skills to take your enemy by surprise and then kill them by surprise is:
Incognito ‐> Fanatical Zeal (while behind the enemy) ‐> Torment x2 ‐> Silence The Heretic to stop the enemy from casting ‐> Absolution to finish them off, and if they still have hp left continue to use Torment.
Chaos
Chosen
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.13
PvP Tank: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=13#0:0:15:43552:5:0:25:8357:8353:8366:503
Targets: Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 11
DPS 1: Healers (Always your first target)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you can reach them, it’s pretty much game over for them)
DPS 3: Melee DPS (Assist your group is killing them, go for the lighter armor first)
DPS 4: Tank (Do what you can, but don’t try to solo)
Stats: Strength, Wounds and Toughness
Strat: A good strat for playing a Chosen PvP Tank is to charge into the group of enemies and use Repel and Downfall on the healers, and be sure to always have Corruption Horror aura on, it will make your enemies instant cast spells non instant cast, meaning they won’t be able to run while spamming heals, which is usually enough to kill them.
Depending on the scenario you may be able to know healers or other players off cliffs or into lava using your Repel ability, which can be useful.
If an enemy does manager to get away and they are low on health, remember you can use your throwing axe to deal massive damage from behind.
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=13#15:35368:0:0:5:0:25:500:505:8363:503
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (The best enemy healer is the one that’s dead)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (If you get up close to them, snare them and they’re pretty much dead)
DPS 3: Melee DPS (It’s best to assist your group in killing them)
DPS 4: Tanks (Tooth Pick vs Brick wall, do what you can)
Stats: Strength, Weapon Skill and Wounds
Strat: One of the most useful strats for a PvP DPS Chosen is to always have your Dreadful Terror aura on, while using Withering Blow every chance you can, this strat will make large groups of enemy run out of action points very fast, while dealing high damage, any target you single attack will be out of action points in a matter of seconds, rendering them useless, it’s especially useful against healers.
If an enemy does manager to get away and they are low on health, remember you can use your throwing axe to deal massive damage from behind.
Magus
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.16
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=16#15:10792:0:0:4:8:25:563:8517:8518:8522
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (Since you’re ranged you can kill them, then their not healing their group)
DPS 2: Ranged DPS (Your ranged, so you’re one of the few classes that can reach them)
DPS 3: Tanks (Your spells are magic, so it will bypass their defense)
DPS 4: Melee DPS (They’d probably kill you before you could kill them) Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 12
Stats: Int and Wounds
Strat: PvP DPSing Magus’ in RvR are one of the deadliest classes a caster will ever face using certain spells while still doing lots of AoE damage, one of the spells that makes Magus a Magus is Perils Of The Warp which causes the enemy to take damage every time they heal or use an offensive spell, so using this on say a Bright Wizard combined with their combustion ability will probably end up with them killing themselves in a matter of seconds, or if you use it on a healer, while they try to heal themselves they’ll just end up doing more damage.
Magus’ are really good at AoE damage to using the right combination of spells, one of the most commonly used is:
Bale Transmogrification (on as many enemies as you can) followed by Tzeentch’s Firestorm.
Also be sure to have your Pink Horror up at all time.
Marauder
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.14
PvP AOE: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=14#5:32:0:0:15:8744:25:798:8444:800:526
Targets:
DPS 1: A Huge Group (The best kind)
DPS 2: A Big Group
DPS 3: A Medium Group
DPS 4: A Small Group
Stats: Strength, Weapon Skill and Wounds
Strat: You are a enemy groups worst nightmare by using your knock backs and stuns to annoy the hell out of them and sometimes even kill them by Spam Flail and Demolition, and use Mouth of Tzeentch when you’ve got a caster on you.
Don’t underestimate the Tzeench’s Warding tactic because it is very useful in RvR when there are a lot of casters. Don’t forget to use de‐taunts (Wave of Horror) on casters.
One of the best damage combinations you can use to kill a group is:
Wave of Mutilation ‐> Concussive Jolt ‐>Wrecking Ball ‐> Concussive Jolt ‐ > Demolition, and if they’re not dead I personally like to spam Flail as well because it double attacks.
PvP DPS:http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=14#5:32:15:8864:0:0:25:8432:8431:8442:8428
Targets:
DPS 1: Healers (The best enemy healer is the one that’s dead) Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 13
Strat: This build is really crit dependant and casters will be your main PvP focus by using a simple but deadly combination of skills you will make a casters life a living hell, one of the simplest but massive damage dealing combination of skills is:
Impale ‐> Convulsive Slashing ‐> Wave of Terror ‐> Guillotine for your main attack combo, and wave of terror is really useful in PvP.
When your victim drops below 50% HP use:
Impale ‐> Convulsive Slashing ‐> Guillotine ‐> Wave of Terror, and just spam Impale until Convulsive Slashing is available again. On tanks be sure to use Pulverize, it’ll nullify their block chance and lower their parry chance.
Zealot
Skills: http://www.wardb.com/search.aspx?browse=6.1.15
PvP Heal: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=15#15:8232:6:8:0:0:25:589:592:8584:8599
Stats: Willpower and Wounds (Toughness can help to if you think you may get focused a lot)
Strat: Healing as a Zealot is pretty straight forward, which can be good at times because it’s easy to master, but can also get repetitive, the best way to ensure your target (or group) stays alive is to always have your HoTs on them by using:
Dark Medicine ‐> Elixir of Dark Blessings (if they’re low) if not use Flash of Chaos which is instant cast, since you have the tactic to increase Flash of Chaos it will crit a lot and will proc your Restorative Burst tactic a lot almost giving you infinite action points, if your in a group and they’re taking a lot of damage you should use Dust of Pandemonium to keep your groups health up.
Also be sure to make good use your detaunt abilities and your silence abilities if you see ranged dps or ranged casters attacking you. Copyright 2008 http://www.AshlingsWorld.com Page 14

Strat: A simple strat for PvP Healing as a Disciple of Khaine is to hide behind objects so you can’t be seen, AoE heals still go through walls along as your allies are in range, doing this will increase your survivability a lot.
It’s good to use Soul Shielding on your group before casting a big heal, so they won’t be taking damage while your casting you heal, also make use of your Khaine’s Vigor spell which is a HoT and always keep it up.
PvP DPS: http://www.wardb.com/career.aspx?id=23#0:0:15:10920:4:0:25:585:9598:9602:9601
Strat: One of the most destructive strats for PvP DPSing as a Disciple of Khaine is to use Fell Sacrifice on a group, followed by Lacerate, then Sanguinary Extension followed by Wracking Agony to almost guarantee a kill.
Doing this will be 3 DoTs on your enemy, and then deal massive damage if they are below 50% hp.
