Is it safe for me to mail 10,000 gold from one toon to another?

In WotLK I plan on switching mains from my warrior to my shaman. I have about 13,000 gold on my warrior and only 800 on my shaman… so I was thinking about mailing most of it to him. However, I’ve heard stories in the past about players mailing gold to their alts (even alts on the same account), and then being banned for gold-selling or buying or something. Do you think it would be safe for me to mail such a large sum of gold at once to my shaman?
If not, what size increments do you think would be best?

I would just do it. If you DO get a ban, then call the customer service people and tell them what was going on. 99% of the time, if you’re not clearly lying, then they’ll pay attention and fix the problem. Happened to a guild that was sending 100s of thousands of gold around before the introduction of the guild banks, once they talked to customer service, they got all their accounts reinstated and all the stuff back.
