The Factions You Should Know in Wotlk
December 8, 2008 – 3:12 amPosted by: swagvault

There are 3 force factions, 3 single factions and 4 regular factions in Wotlk.
3 force factions are Explorers’ League, The Sliver Covenant, Valiance Expedition for Aliance players and Warsong Offensive, Hand of Vengeance, Taunka for Horde players. The reputation for these factions can be gained from the quests in different force camps throughout Northrend continent. There are only a few rewards with these factions so you don’t need pay much attentions to them. You will active the achievement The Winds of the North if you gain exalted reputation with all three factions.

The Kalu’ak

The Sons of Hodir
3 single factions are The Kalu’ak, The Sons of Hodir and Frenzyheart Tribe/The Oracle; The Kalu’ak is the faction of the new race Tuskarr in Wotlk whose villages lie along the seacoast in Borean Tundra, Dragonblight and Howling Fjord. You can get 1500 reputations everyday from 3 dailies except the normal quests. They have some funny rewards like epic fishing pole, penguin pet and 28 slot leatherworking bag, of course it is not a necessary faction for most players. The Sons of Hodir is the faction of ancient giants in Storm Peaks, you have to complete a very long quest chain which started in K3 to activate this faction. The final step of this quest chain will make you friendly with those giants and finally you will get 3 daily quests at first after everything are done. This faction is very important for all the players because this is the new shoulder slot enchantments. Frenzyheart Tribe/The Oracle is the wotlk version of The Aldor and The Scryer ,with some funny daily quests and a few faction rewards, the difference is you can switch from one to another and get exalted with both factions.

Argent Crusade

Knights of the Ebon Blade
4 regular factions are Argent Crusade, Kirin Tor, Knights of the Ebon Blade and The Wyrmrest Accord. Regular factions are the ones which you can get their reputations from 80 dungeons and heroic dungeons. First you should get friendly with them by doing quests, then buy a Tabard from their quartermasters, wear it you will get relevant reputations from the monsters you kill in senior dungeons. Argent Crusade has some camps in Zul’Drak and Icescrown, so as Knights of the Ebon Blade, you can get honored with these two factions easily after most of their quests are done. The difference is you need a quest chain to activate the faction of Knights of the Ebon Blade. Kirin Tou is the faction of Dalaran Mages, they only have a few quests for you to gain the reputations. But you can get friendly with them by doing normal dungeon daily quest and choose the mark of Kirin Tou for 250 reputations everyday. The Wyrmrest Accord is the faction of Red Dragon Flight leaded by the queen Alexstrasza the Life-Binder who is at the top of Wyrmrest Temple.

Wyrmrest Accord
What shall I do before I get 80?
Get friendly to 4 regular factions and activate all hidden factions is the most important thing for you before you get 80. That means you should do about 20 quest which related to Wyrmrest Accord in Dragonblight and complete all the quest in the western half (Ebon Watch, Light’s Breach and The Argent Stand) of Zul’Drak and a dungeon run of Violet Hold. At the same time, you should complete 2 chain quests. The one for Knights of the Ebon Blade is starting with It’s All Fun and Games from Thassarian who is on the board of Skybreaker airship (Horde players should get this quest from Koltira Deathweaver on another airship), it has 7 steps and after everything is done, the Shadow Vault will become the camp of Ebon Knight, you can find the quartermaster there. Another one for The Sons of Hodir is long and epic. It starts at K3 with They Took Our Men! given by Gretchen Fizzlespark inside the tavern. It has 24 STEPS in total and finally you’ll get friendly to those giants in Dun Niffelem.

Kirin Tou
Which Faction is the most helpful one for me after I get 80?
No matter which class you are, buy a Tabard and raise one of the regular factions to revered is the first thing you should do after you get 80 and begin you adventures in 80 dungeons and heroics. Because they have new head slot enchantment which is cheap but really useful all the time, Now take care which faction you need best: Argent Crusade is for tank class, Kirin Tou for caster DPS, Knights of the Ebon Blade for melee DPS and Wyrmrest Accord for healers. Don’t forget the daily quests of The Sons of Hodir in Dun Niffelem, it’s very important too.
OK, this is the end of Wotlk factions introduction, we will have a more exhaustive guide about how to raise these factions easier and faster in next chapter, cya ^^
