Are you having trouble with the frame rate or performance of Age of Conan (AoC)?

I also had issues initially, but I worked through them. In the process of doing so I found many good tweaks to help you address performance issues (this is assuming that your PC meets the minimum hardware requirements for AoC).
-Make sure all your hardware drivers and operating system patches are up to date. Go to the manufacturer’s website and follow directions.
-If you still have issues after fixing #1 then try the Driver removal and re-installation process described here or here (for ATI).
-Defragment your hard drive
-Tweak Age of Conan video options. Specifically make sure that the Shader model option is set to 2.0. Also, turn down anti aliasing and view distances
-If you have completed steps 1-4 above and you still want better performance it is time to look your bottlenecks. I.e. is it your CPU, memory, or video card that is the weak link. Both memory and video card can be upgraded for $300 or less combined. Some video cards to consider are the nVidia lineup of (from least to most expensive): 9600GT, 8800GT, 8800GTS, 9800GX2.
-Overclocking your video card or CPU is always an option. However, that is for advanced users only, and I don’t recommend that as it might make your gaming rig more unstable.
