WotLK Inscription in World of Warcraft, All the info you need to know!

World of Warcraft WotLK – Inscription Profession

The release of WoW’s ‘Wrath of the Lich King‘ expansion has brought with it a great new profession to learn – Inscription.

The basis of the Inscription profession is that your character collects various herbs that will combine to create different types of ink. The different types of ink and pigments you create combined with parchments make up your different glyphs.

Inscribers learn to create Glyphs that can be used as enhancements to various spells or racial abilities. For example, minor glyphs could improve cosmetic items or your increase your abilities temporarily, like added intelligence or increased agility, which may replace the need certain other spell reagents.

Major glyphs can also increase the amount of damage dealt to an enemy when attached to your weapon, so they’ll be very useful in combat too. You could also create glyphs that greatly enhance your armor, giving you higher than normal defenses during battle.

With certain glyphs, you are able to turn them into scrolls so that you can trade them with other players or sell them at the Auction House.

Because you need to use herbs in your inscription leveling, this makes the Inscription perfect as a combo with Herbalism.  Check out our free 1-450 Herbalism guide here.  Once you’ve collected the specific herbs you need, you create your different pigments and inks by milling the herbs and then turn them into useful glyphs.

Many new Inscribers will find that early recipes learned from various trainers will teach them to make scrolls for increasing intelligence, agility, spirit, or stamina. These can be very handy while you level up your character.

As you go up through the levels and gain access to new towns and areas, you’ll meet new trainers who will be happy to teach you new recipes. The higher you can work through your Inscription levels, the more useful the glyphs and scrolls become.

You will find quite a few racial-specific glyphs among the recipes too. For example, hunters might find a Glyph of Revive Pet very handy but a druid is going to find a Glyph of Thorns helpful in reducing mana cost.

If you’re a warrior class, then the Glyph of Battle will be great for increasing your battle shout duration for 1 minute and for rogues wanting to pick more pockets without having to get so close to mobs, then the Glyph of Pick Pocket is your best bet.

WotLK Inscription is one of the easier professions to level up in WoW especially if you already have the Herbalism profession. Not only will you be creating your own ways to help increase your chances of surviving battles and increasing your character’s own strengths, but you could also make a very handy amount of gold by selling your creations to other players and on the Auction House.
