Victory by a Hair’s Breadth

I had a really cool little scenario yesterday that I felt I had to share.

My friend (Rookie-Shadow Warrior) and I (Unyielding-Ironbreaker) queued up for Gates of Ekrund yesterday, our last game of the evening.

We got in and the score was 150ish to 300ish, Destruction winning. After a few minutes of tough fighting our team managed to three cap them, pushing the scores to 400-475. They managed to take back their own capture point (ammo cache, if memory serves), and as the seconds ticked down, I found myself saying, “If we’d just gotten in a minute earlier… this game would be done.”

My roommate, Rookie, however, kept saying, “It’s not over, it’s not over. We got this.” The points kept ticking… their points ticked to 499, ours to 480, and I just knew that we were done. But by some miracle, our points ticked again, before theirs did, and we ended up winning the game 500 to 499.

That’s right, 1 point victory, after getting in 5 minutes late and down by 150 points. In our glorious celebration (and it was glorious), however, I forgot to save the Scenario Report. Oh well, it was a great battle none-the-less. Thanks to all the fantastic Order healers on Volkmar for keeping my old-school dwarven ass alive.
