Welcome to another installment of our Warcraft Econ101 series. Our weekend series for those that are just starting to play World of Warcraft. Again we always recommend checking comments, as our many readers offer some great advice as well.
Trade Channel is the alternate medium to buy or sell goods. As you’re in the major cities it’s always good to keep this open. But here’s a few pointers to get you started.
1. Don’t Spam: Constantly spamming trade chat is annoying, keep your posts spread out, don’t advertise more than once a minute, if there is a buyer/seller they will respond. Otherwise, you can expect to make the ignore list of everyone in the city.
2. Acroynm Breakdown:
- WTB: Wanting to Buy – Someone is looking for a certain product
- WTS: Wanting to Selll – Someone is looking to move a certain product
- “+ Mats” or “your Mats“: Mats is an abbreviation for materials. For example you may see someone say “Crafting Brilliant Titansteel Helm you mats + plus tip”
- PST: If you see someone with PST at the end of a trade channel message that means they’re looking for a private tell for response.
3. Care in what you offer: You can make items for sale
4. Check Auction House Pricing: If you’re looking to buy something being offered by someone in the trade channel, you will want to check the Auction House to see if it’s a deal worth taking. If you need it you need it, but no sense overpaying for something if you can get it cheaper in AH.
5. Trade Chat is for Trade: People tend to go on and on in trade channel for matters unrelated to trade. There’s no rule that says you can’t but in reality Blizzard has a general chat channel and that’s where that text belongs. Try and keep your trade chat to actual trade chat, it’s just being courteous to other.
