Economy Achievement: Ben Bergnomeke

Achievements have been a tremendous new success for Blizzard,  they’ve added a new level of challenges in the game for each character.  But what about Economy based Achievements?  Surely there most be other Achievements one can complete in the game.  The WoW Economist has that list for you,  perhaps we’ve got a Blizzard staffer reading our blog (so cool) and these might find their way into a future patch.

At present we have the following Achievements available.

• Got My Mind On My Money (Level 1 – 10 Points)
  
• Got My Mind on My Money (Level 2 – 10 Points)
  
• Got My Mind On My Money (Level 3 – 10 Points)
• Got My Mind On My Money (Level 4 – 10 Points)
• Got My Mind On My Money (Level 5 – 10 Points)
• The Bread WInner

Ok fine, these are cool but there is so much room left for improvements…How about getting these Achievements on the drawing table for patch 3.09?

• Achievement: Casual Trader: Earn 10,000 gold in the Auction House
• Achievement: Day Trader: Earn 50,000 gold in the Auction House
• Achievement: Gordon Gecko: Earn 100,000 Gold in the Auction House
• Achievement: Auction House Board Member:  Earn 200,000 Gold in the Auction House

• Achievement: Frugal Citizen:  Accumulate a Net Worth of 25,000 gold in the game.
• Achievement: Minding your Money Fool:  Accumulate a Net Worth of 50,000 gold in the game.
• Achievement: Market and Economic Genius:  Accumulate a Net Worth of 100,000 gold in the game.
• Achievement: Azeroth Economic Adviser:  Accumulate a Net Worth of 200,000 gold in the game.

• Achievement: Ben Bergnomeke (Title): Complete all of the Economy Achievements and pay 100,000 gold for the Title.

For everyone that is looking at me like I’m smoking crack with the cost of the final Grand Achievement think about this… If you can accumulate 100,000 gold in the game what in god’s name are you going to do with that?  This achievement would be the ultimate in Economy bragging rights. Putting a cost on the title also prevents other players or guilds loaning gold to guildies to get the grand achievement.

Take it one step further,  for each player who gets that Achievement,  the name is immortalized on a plaque outside the Auction House doors for people to see.  What ungodly amount of spare time these people have one may ask,  or one may wonder if they should be hired somewhere due to their abilities to seize upon opportunity.

Educational Sidestep:  If you’re wondering who we’re referencing with the Title name, see the current US Fed Chairman.  If you live in the US this is a guy you should know.  He’s currently playing with your taxpayer money like a drunk in Vegas who just remembered he’s got the Department of Treasury – Platinum Amex.  Alan Goldspan may be a better alternative, time will certainly tell. It’s a pretty cool title none the less.  Gordon Gecko is a reference to the movie Wall Street,  the artful corporate raider played by Michael Douglas.  If you’ve ever spent a day in the business world or sales,  not a bad movie to watch.
