Decorating your house, guild hall, space ship or other player-owned structure in Star Wars Galaxies can be a lot of fun! Here are some basic tips to get you started:
(There are links to additional guides at the bottom of the article.)
1. You begin placing an item in your house by dropping it out of your inventory. It’s very helpful to move your character as close as possible to the spot where you’d like your item to appear.
2. You can move items inside a building by using either the radial menu or the slash commands.
The basic commands are:
/move forward 1
/move back 1
/move up 1
/move down 1
/rotate left 1
/rotate right 1Forward, back, up and down have a movement range of 1-500.
Rotating left and right have a movement range of 1-180.
Moving Items with Toolbar Buttons
The easiest and most effective way to move items around inside your house is to first create some basic item movement buttons. Then, use those toolbar buttons to move the item around.
Here is how you make an item movement button for your toolbar:
- Open up Command Browser. By default, press “;” to open this abilities window.
- Click “Macro” tab.
- Click the “New Macro” Button
- In the “new macro” window:
- Enter name for the toolbar button.
- Pick an icon for the toolbar button.
- Type in the command that will activate when you press the button.
-
- Click “Ok”.
Here is a sample of the basic toolbar buttons that really help make the placing of items easy:
For moving items up inside a building, make a set of “up” buttons:
- /movefurniture up 1
- /movefurniture up 5
- /movefurniture up 10
For moving items down inside a building, make a set of “down buttons”:
- /movefurniture down 1
- /movefurniture down 5
- /movefurniture down 10
For turning items around so they face in different directions, make a set of “rotate buttons”:
- /rotatefurniture left 1
- /rotatefurniture left 5
- /rotatefurniture left 10
- /rotatefurniture left 45
- /rotatefurniture left 90
- /rotatefurniture right 1
* Note: To help nudge things into place, it’s easiest to make most of your rotate buttons rotate in 1 direction, with another button rotating in the opposite direction.
For moving items forward and backwards, make a set of “forward” and “backward” buttons:
- /move forward 1
- /move forward 1
- /move forward 1
- /move back 1
- /move back 5
- /move back 10
Tip: Whatever direction your avatar is facing is “forward”. “Back” is the direction directly behind your avatar.
Also, if your character is sitting a chair when you decorate, you’ll be perfectly aligned with the wall you are facing.
