EVE Fanfest 2009 is going to get chilly

While the event is still roughly four months away, EVE Online’s Fanfest 2009 deserves mention for its sheer originality. Very few games, especially MMOs, hold fan gatherings outside the Southeastern USA. EVE’s will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland and will take place October 1 – 3, 2009.
Tickets are 75 USD for a normal ticket or 188 USD for a Sisters of Eve group pass. SoE passes include, quoting the fanfest website, “A private 4×4 truck (Ford Ecoliner), local English speaking guide, lunch, cave exploration, and access to the Party at the Top of the World!”
The website’s FAQ is a comprehensive guide for the event, but it also provides tourist information on Iceland and (persuasively!) invites fanfest-attendees to extend their stay. The event is worth attending just for Iceland’s beautiful, snowy vista.
