If you dont intend to use your pet, as most do with a regular wolf, and just let it leach exp. Then the higher lvl the wolf is compared to you, the faster it levels.
that might sound abit strange but, here is why. When a pet is 11 levels or higher it takes up a lot more of the exp that your hero gains. I leveled my wolf with a lowbie toon, killing raid bosses. When my pet was around lvl 48-50 i got almost a entire lvl when i went to kill a lvl 21ish raid boss. Now my pet is lvl 60 and is now a great wolf (leaches even more exp) At this point it gains around 25-35% of killing a low lvl raid boss solo with it just leaching exp.
I did some other testing, and i know this might sound as much but for the wolf its uber exp. I was lvl 22 at this time, and my wolf lvl 58. went killing in abandon camp, with full wit i only got 300 exp pr kill. Now this sux for my char, and only ment i got 0.04 exp pr kill, but at the same time so was my wolf. And mobs at that lvl go down real fast.
I would recommend if you just want to lvl a wolf or pet to use on a high main took. make a alt char and just make sure the wolf is 11 or more levels higher and go hunt, fastest way to lvl a pet and raid bosses is real nice for this.
