A few days ago, it was reported that Blizzard was suspected of illegal joint venture and World of Warcraft faced suspension in China. In the evening, July 21 (GMT +9), an official at the General Administration of Press and Publication of People’s Republic of China accepted the interview from journalists and answered the questions raised relating to the World of Warcraft examination and approval issue concerned by players as well as the gaming industry. According to the official, WoW examination has been completed, and on July 19(GMT +9), specific revision suggestions have also been officially submitted to the related authority. It is learnt that Blizzard is concentrating efforts on modifying the game.

So now, the dust is settled over the speculation that WoW will be banned in China. Woo hoo, the 5 million WoW players in China almost pass the world’s most popular online game up. Anyway, according to an insider, WoW is expected to enter closed beta in China on July 30 (GMT +9) (Note: it’s CLOSED BETA!). And it will be totally free, but only those who are already registered users of WoW can access the closed beta. Will WoW undergo anew the following process in China: CBT, OBT, commercial launch, TBC (The Burning Crusade) and WotLK (Wrath of the Lich King)? And of course, no one knows when it can be updated to WotLK.

Maybe, many players will say “Take it easy, it’s just a game”. However, for most Chinese players, WoW is NOT just a game…
