More Power Auras tips for hunters

Huntsman’s Lodge has a terrific set of tips for running Power Auras as a hunter. I’m not running this addon (yet) on my hunter, but apparently it’s pretty old news — our old friend BRK had some ideas on how to use it a while back. But HL goes even farther, and I like a lot of his ideas, like a star that lights up when Dragonhawk isn’t turned on — I’ll admit I make that mistake from time to time — and warnings for “special circumstance” spells like Lock and Load and Kill Shot.

You can mix and match them all to fit your own gameplay as well, so maybe use some from HL’s list and throw in one or two from BRK’s old setup. And even if you’re not a hunter, the addon is helpful for any class that needs a heads up on buffs and debuffs coming their way. We hunters can get all the help we need though — HL’s list is a great resource for using the addon with our class.

Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning Reviewed

Macworld has posted a new review of the Mac version of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The game features Realm vs Realm combat and allows players to enter a grim fantasy world where the armies of Order and Destruction collide to determine the fate of nations. Macworld gave Warhammer Online a score of 4 out of 5.

From the review:

Where the game really shines is when you play with and against other players. Think of Warhammer Online as a Dark Age of Camelot spiritual successor, especially when it comes to the later levels of combat. Starting out, you’ll be able to participate in public quests with your fellow players. I joined in on a mission to put down an abomination that had been created due to a botched summoning ceremony and later a mission to clear a town of infected demons. Depending on your performance, you’ll be given a certain share of the loot. The public quests reset themselves after a certain amount of time, which makes sense but also reveals a bit of the game’s raw seams.

Later, you’ll be able to answer rally calls to join with your fellow forces as they seek to defend or invade a territory on the map. Dozens of fellow players will square off in combat, hoping to secure objectives. You’ll love being able to test your abilities against live opponents and its great to feel like you’re actually contributing to the overall war effort; but you’ll grow bored with the standoff nature of initial battles. Two armies taking pot shots at each other while no one advances can get boring fast. Read the rest of this entry »

They aim to make games fun

When it was launched last year, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures stirred things up quite a little, and, as a result, Funcom saw a nice income boost. It proved to be an interesting massively multiplayer online role-playing title, with quite a few new ideas and it featured some pretty impressive graphics as well that turned a lot of heads towards it. But it seems like the game didn’t manage to become a long-time commitment with players and was more of a one-night stand. It did well at the beginning, but it just lacked that addictive sensation.
